TMI Tuesday is here…
Love Work Money
1. When did you last sing a love song? What song? Did you sing it to someone?
My singing voice suffered mightily after the crash that nearly killed me, but it finally returned sometime in October / November, 2015. I’ve been slowly working it back into shape since then, and had the pleasure of finally being able to sing along with the Tiesto Birthday Treatment Mix of John Legend’s “All of Me” while glancing at Mrs. AP. She teared up. I teared up. Traffic ignored our moment of bonding while in the car. Still, it was lovely, and came in the middle of the emotional rollercoaster that is the Winter Holiday Season.
2. How do you want to spend a special day with your lover?
What I most want is to escape with Mrs. AP for a day to somewhere where we can spend all day in bed, only getting up for receiving delicious decadent delights from room service and a visit from a lovely pair of masseuses, as we escape into each other and whatever soundtrack we desire.
3. What is the ideal number of calls/texts a couple should exchange in a day? Why did you say that?
I don’t think there is an ideal. More than a few, less than a constant barrage. Just so long as neither person feels ignored, and nobody is holding back from saying things that need be said, a couple should find their own cooperative rhythm and flow accordingly.
4. With regards to work, what do you enjoy doing (again, and again)?
I’m a hand-on kind of guy. I’d much rather be in the middle of the action than be a distant voice over the phone or an invisible hand behind a computer connection. The rush of solving a problem directly in front of me, or beating an impossible deadline to help avoid a logistical nightmare, gets me every time.
5. Are you on track with your work career? Are you where you wanted to be with education, training, position?
I’m good. I could, and should, probably earn some higher grade certificates to help put a paper to my skillset, but that’s the only other thing I could do right now. (Although, I dream of being able to ditch the “career” as I have it now and just write full time, and lack the wherewithal to monetize that enough to keep food and shelter provided for the family as of yet.)
6. What do you want to avoid in your job/career?
Stagnation and obsolescence.
7. Money–do you have enough?
I do for the basic needs, but I do not for the extra perks that make life as wonderful as it could be, for while it is true that one cannot purchase happiness, with enough spending power one can arrange for travel and experiences that bring troves of happy memories.
8. On Valentine’s day do you normally buy your loved one a romantic gift or a practical, usable gift?
Romantic, although usually not so much gifts as experiences such as dinners at otherwise unaffordable restaurants or private getaways.
9. Are you being paid fairly?
10. What’s the most money you’ve ever given away?
I don’t keep track of when, to whom, or in what amount I donate money. If I have friends in need, I help as I’m able. If a charity strikes near and dear to my heart, I support the cause. I am responsibly generous as I am able.
Bonus: What’s the biggest personal change you’ve ever made?
I escaped the evil clutches of my emotionally abusive and physically neglectful ex-wife to find a new home and partner in Mrs. AP. My life has been all the better in the 6 years since.
