Sign of the Times
Today is Monday. August 27. The scheduled start of the Republican National Convention (now delayed), being held here in the Tampa Bay area. It is also the day forecasters expect the strongest winds and most amount of rain from Tropical Storm (possibly Hurricane) Isaac. To them both I say this:
Go Away.
You are making traffic difficult. Roads are closed because of you both. Utility services are taxed because of you both. Wireless communication networks are overrun with traffic and suffering tower outages, preventing my normal level of access for voice and data communication. Local trunk lines for Internet Service Providers in the area are bottle-necking due to the packet collisions resulting in your presences. All because of your combined presences.
Leave. Now. Please. I didn’t ask for either of you to be here, and you’re both making my daily life — and my job — more difficult. Just. Go. Away.
Amen brother.

So may it be.
And now I hope everybody in New Orleans fares well through the upcoming storm.

Thank you! We seem to have gotten through Isaac well enough. Now we just have to survive the RNC.

My sister works in Tampa. Because of all the traffic and detours and such, she actually got lost on her way home from work Monday, and found herself stuck in a camp of protesters! What a mess.

Yes. Yes it is. I’m lucky in that I live on the opposite side of the bay and haven’t had to deal with the brunt of it, but traffic everywhere is overwhelmed with the extra traffic. Wish her luck for me! I know she needs it!
